Experience the Ancient Art of Bonsai 

Immerse yourself in one of Japan's most refined traditions at this hands-on bonsai workshop, held in the serene courtyard of Narita Gateway Hotel.

Workshop Details

• Price: ¥16500 (tax included) per person
• Duration: 60 minutes
• Group size: Up to 5 participants
• Two sessions daily:
  • 16:00 PM – 17:00 PM
  • 17:30 PM – 18:30 PM
  • 19:30 PM –20:30 PM

What You'll Experience

Begin with an introduction to the history and philosophy of bonsai — a living art form with centuries of tradition. Then roll up your sleeves for a guided, hands-on session in pruning and wiring, where you'll shape your very own bonsai tree under expert instruction.

Your finished bonsai is yours to keep and take home at the end of the session.

Please note: The bonsai shown in photos are for illustrative purposes. Each season, your instructor hand-selects trees that are in ideal condition for pruning and shaping — so every workshop is a little different. Tree size may vary slightly depending on the season.

Taking Your Bonsai Home

Your bonsai will be handed to you directly at the end of the workshop. If you'd like it shipped to your home, shipping fees apply separately.

 International guests: Due to phytosanitary (plant quarantine) regulations, guests traveling outside Japan are welcome to enjoy the full workshop experience, but will be unable to take the bonsai tree home. We hope the memories and skills you gain will travel with you instead!
